Images of wood accumulations in Adirondack streams located within old-growth forests.
These images are provided to illustrate what few people recognize, that is, that extensive tracts
of undisturbed forest are located within the Adirondack Park, a six million acre region that was established in 1892. The amount of
wood found within streams located throughout these Adirondack old-growth forested tracts are similar to what has been found in old-growth
forests within the Pacific Northwest -- and clearly illustrate the tremendous amount of wood that was present in streams throughout forested regions
of North America prior to human settlement.
